Office 365 Setup
Microsoft Office 365 can be extremely useful for your business in a variety of ways. However, the actual set up process can be very involved and time consuming.
If you would like some assistance getting Office 365 up and running in your company, the expert technicians at Networkfix Inc are here to help.
What is Office 365?
Office 365 is a suite of useful business applications that can be used to facilitate a variety of important business functions.
How does Office 365 work?
It works on a subscription basis, based on the number of users or employees you will be allowing access to it.
It includes the latest version of all the available Microsoft applications that are included in the package. Rather than setting up each application onto a local computer, the entire suite can be downloaded and accessed online from any location with an internet connection, on virtually any device.
This means you can start working on a project at the office, continue with it on your mobile device after you leave the office, and then finish up on your laptop when you get home.
Files are all save to the cloud, using the OneDrive feature. This allows you to share these files with anyone you wish, by providing them a link to that file. It is perfect for collaborative assignments and group projects. Storage is available for all types of files, including images, spreadsheets, or even presentations made with PowerPoint.
Subscriptions are available on either a monthly or yearly basis.
Getting Started with Office 365 Setup
If you are planning to set up Office 365 for business, here are some tips on how to get started.
Users You Want to Enable
First, you will want to make a list of all the employees or staff members you wish to have access to the Office 365 suite.
Next, you will need to decide how each new user will be notified to help them get set up and gain access to their Office 365 subscription.
You want to make sure you have a secure method of contact, as you will be providing each new user with login credentials so they can sign in.
This can be done with a phone call, personal email, or in person at the office.
Link to your Business
To consolidate your Office 365 subscription with your business, you will need to provide information about your website domain name and where it is registered.
This allows you to create a personalized email address for your business (such as email@example.com).
Migration to Office 365
The transfer to Office 365 can be done all at once, or in stages. If you want to make the migration in one go, it is best to do it immediately to avoid downtime or users being unable to access the applications.
If you would rather make the move in stages, then you can add each employee to your Office 365 subscription as you see fit, so they can download and install the apps at their convenience.
Each person with a subscription to Office 365 Business will be able to download apps on up to 5 devices.
Each device must meet the operating system and technical requirements for download.
If you are currently using a different email provider for your business, then migration to Office 365 Outlook may result in some downtime in order to make the switch.
If you are already using Outlook, but just not the Office 365 version, then downtime will be minimal.
Your contacts and calendar events can be migrated as well.
When you make the switch to Office 365, all files will now be stored securely in the cloud. All relevant files can be uploaded to OneDrive for instant and shared access.
If you are going to be moving large amounts of data, it is recommended to use a migration tool, or third party assistance, like Networkfix Inc.
Skype for Business
Included in the Office 365 Business suite is the Skype for Business application.
This is very useful for communication both within the company, and for voice, video, and messaging with customers and clients.
Skype Meeting Broadcast is also available for hosting large business meetings or webinars for up to 10,000 people.
